School – Over 4,000 Teachers Attended ‘Didacta Fair 20121 Is Approaching’. The Next Appointment Will Be Live at the Fortezza da Basso, from 17th to 19th March 2021

Two days of projects and assessments on how school evolved, and an opportunity to discuss online with sector specialists on the future of school. ‘Didacta Fair 2021 Is Approaching’ successfully ended yesterday. This streaming event was divided into four panels on 13th and 14th October, seeing the participation of over 4,000 teachers. This was a first step towards the fourth edition of Didacta Italy Fair, set to take place at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence from 17th to 19th March 2021.

The first day opened with a video message from Italian Education Minister Lucia Azzolina, hailing the event ‘Didacta Fair 2021 Is Approaching’ as a “great opportunity for teachers, school managers and administrative staff to meet – albeit remotely – other colleagues and experts from the education world”.

The first day saw a presentation of topics related to pre-school education in the age of digitisation (0-6 years) and online teaching, reflecting upon the need to benefit from the opportunities offered by the digital world in these last months to change the school system and the didactic organisation.

The second day opened with an in-depth analysis of School Structures and on how the pandemic and the opportunities offered by the Recovery Fund may represent an unrepeatable opportunity for a structural change.

The two days of ‘Didacta Fair 2021 Is Approaching’ ended with a discussion on the thorniest aspects of school autonomy which, after its launch, over twenty years ago, remains largely unfinished.

“Didacta Fair 2021 Is Approaching – said Giovanni Biondi, President of Indire – offered many school managers, teachers and sector insiders the opportunity to reflect upon extremely interesting subjects concerning the future of school. The participation of institutional representatives, such as Minister Azzolina and Vice-Minister Ascani in the first place, along with a large panel of experts, helped develop a highly scientific debate”.

“During these  two preliminary online days of Didacta Italy 2021, some of the most important and strategic topics on how to reorganise school were presented, with the purpose of being taken up again and developed during the next edition of the Fair”, commented Paola Concia, coordinator of the Organising Committee. “The success of this event is the result of an active involvement of specialists and experts of the education world and of the participation of an incredibly high number of teachers from all over Italy, and it encourages us to move on all together with optimism, combining our forces, resources and specific expertise to organize the fourth edition of Didacta Italy Fair 2021, set to take place at the Fortezza da Basso from 17th to 19th March 2021”.
